I currently run three tours in Edinburgh. My aim is to show you an alternative side of the city away from the main tourist routes. Whether you are interested in urban life, natural scenery or local cuisine – I have you covered! To book any of the tours, please click on the links provided.

Discover one of Edinburgh’s most alternative neighborhoods – and pick up some basic photography skills along the way! This tour takes you around the area, as well as other parts of North Edinburgh. Formerly the heroin capital of the UK, Leith has since flourished into one of the hippest areas in Scotland. You will be told about the history and independent culture of the neighborhood, and provided with a free hot beverage from one of the best coffee shops in the city. All levels are welcome.

The Water of Leith is a river that runs through North Edinburgh – connecting Leith with Stockbridge and beyond! This walkway runs through a diverse range of neighborhoods, allowing you to discover all aspects of Edinburgh life. You will learn about the untold history of these areas, as well as sample some local delicacies during a food photography segment. This tour also welcomes all photography levels. This is great for those interested in urban nature and something a little more relaxed.

The first tour of its kind in Edinburgh, this two hour experience allows you to sample Edinburgh’s alternative culinary scene! Featuring four different vendors (at least two of which will be police boxes), this is a great option for those wanting to sample street food in Scotland. Edinburgh is unique thanks to its renovated police boxes which now house shops and food vendors. All food is included in the price. Due to the ever changing nature of the police boxes, no two tours are the same.

Leith Photography Tour
“I had a really nice afternoon visiting the most interesting spots in Leith with Ian, including numerous large murals, the UK’s longest graffiti wall, and even the housing project from “Trainspotting.” Ian added lots of local color with many stories about the history of the city and its relationship to Edinburgh over the years, as well as invaluable practical advice about everything from the best and cheapest ways to get around (who knew there was a one pound bus to Glasgow?) to the intricacies of current local politics and taxes. After visiting so many touristy sites in Edinburgh it was refreshing to hear the Leith side of the story, and from someone who clearly had a real passion for the subject.” – Cam, United States
“It’s a great experience to have such a good guide to follow. Ian has shown a lot of local spots around Leith. It’s a nice trip.” – Keira, China
Former Lisbon Tour
“I was the only participant and had a wonderful time. Ian was rather patient, very accommodating and provided me with many insights on photography and it was rather educational for me. We covered many interesting spots, interwoven with loads of stories which enriched my Lisbon. A tourist like me would not discovered most of these places on thier own. Ian also provided some wine and a local delicacy at a rest point, which to me was rather thoughtful. I highly recommend this experience.” – Muru, Malaysia
“Ian was a great guide through Lisbon’s colorful and historic streets. Walking was moderate with plenty of stops to hear interesting tidbits about the city and (of course) take photos. Ian was well prepared and allowed for many questions. I especially appreciated the relaxed approach.” – Ed, United States
“Ian was very knowledgeable about the old town of Lisbon. The stories he told helped me understand Lisbon beyond the beautiful architecture. His generous offer of Vinho Verde and Portuguese snacks was a unique experience to the photo walk.” – Jim, Singapore
